Dalglish pleased with Reds´ efforts

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was pleased with his side’s work rate in their 3-1 win against Bolton on Saturday.

Jordan Henderson’s early goal gave the Anfield outfit an early lead, before a pair of strikes early in the second-half to Martin Skrtel and Charlie Adam sealed victory, despite a late consolation from Ivan Klasnic for the Wanderers.

That win put Liverpool on top of the table, for the time being at least, and Dalglish was happy with what he saw.

“It was a pleasure to watch,” Dalglish said.

“We got the result because we worked hard and played for each other. To lose a goal at the end maybe puts a dampener on it for 40 seconds or so, but that also says a lot.”

“I thought we played really well, passed and moved and I think we thoroughly deserved the victory. Everybody who came along to watch will have been very well entertained by the performance of the players.”

Henderson and Adam’s goals were their first for the club since making big-money moves to Merseyside in the off-season and Dalglish was impressed with the performance of his midfield pair.

“It’s always nice to score your first goal at Anfield – and even nicer when you come off with a victory as well,” he said.

“Both Jordan and Charlie will get a lot of satisfaction from their goals, but they’ll get more satisfaction from the victory. I think it will give them encouragement and confidence, but if they hadn’t scored it wouldn’t have affected us because they played really well.”

Bolton manager Owen Coyle blamed his side’s poor defending for the defeat and was disappointed with their start to the second half.

“We shot ourselves in the foot at the start of the second half by conceding two goals,” Coyle said.

“They were good finishes from both the (Liverpool) lads but poor defending from us as a group, and it gave us a mountain to climb.”
