Dani Ceballos wanted January Liverpool switch

Despite purchasing Virgil van Dijk to deal with their defensive problems, Premier League giants Liverpool never really managed to replace Philippe Coutinho in the January transfer window, having let the Brazilian move to Barcelona for £142m. Reports this week suggest that they did have their eye on a player who was also keen on the move.

The man that Jurgen Klopp reportedly wanted was Real Madrid youngster Dani Ceballos, according to the Express, but the Spanish super club put a stop to the deal, keeping the Spaniard in the capital.

Ceballos has featured just seven times in La Liga for Los Blancos this season, and five of his appearances have come from the bench. Despite this he has bagged two goals, and there is little doubt of the 21-year old’s talent.

With such little game time however it is little surprise that the player wanted a move away from Real, and it remains to be seen if Liverpool will grant his wish come the summer.
