David Villa ponders MLS switch

Atletico Madrid striker David Villa is considering a move to the United States, TV show El Partido de las 12 has revealed.

The highly rated footballer is believed to be close to agreeing a switch to New York City FC, with the club expected to join the MLS next season.

The new club hope to start the new campaign with a bang and they believe David Villa would be the perfect marquee signing.

Since New York City FC shares the owners with Manchester City, the Citizens officials Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano are in charge of persuading the Spain international to accept their offer.

Having won the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid, David Villa appears to be searching for a new challenge and he is reportedly interested in a move to the United States.

The 32-year-old has made a total of 36 league appearances for los Colchoneros this term and scored 13 goals in the process.
