Market: DC United win

Enjoying an impressive run of form since moving to their new 20,00 seater Audi Field stadium, DC United will look to carry on their recent record when they host a struggling Minnesota United outfit.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of a very impressive 1-1 draw with Eastern Conference contenders NYC last week, Ben Olsen’s side still remain in contention to secure a playoff position. Led by former England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, United picked up their best win of the season in their last appearance at Audi Field. Putting three past heavy-hitters Atlanta, DC have now won five of their last six home matches and have also found the net 13 times in their last four matches in Washington. Backing another home win for Olsen’s resurgent side seems like the safest bet here.

As for the visitors, after another poor year in the Western Conference, Carl Craig’s Minnesota side are now coming off the back of a 2-0 loss away at Sporting KC last weekend. Now 11 points adrift of the playoff positions, the visitors are arguably MLS’ out of form side. Without a win in their last five and losing four of those outings, it will be their defensive issues that are Craig’s biggest concern. Now conceding 52 in the MLS this campaign, Minnesota now hold the joint worst defensive record in either Conference. Shipping 12 in their winless run, Thursday could be another very difficult afternoon for United.
