Debuchy confirms Valencia link

Lille’s France international full-back Mathieu Debuchy said Valencia want to sign him.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for both club and country, and despite maintaining his focus is on Ligue 1, Debuchy concedes there has been interest from the La Liga club.

“It is part of my thinking,” he told L’Equipe.

“I know Valencia are interested in me.”

“But I’m focused on Ligue 1 for now. I want to end my season positively here before thinking about a possible transfer.”

“I have to accept that I am under contract and I won’t make the choice.”

Debuchy would not be the first Lille defender to move to Unai Emery’s side, after Adil Rami joined from Stade Lille-Metropole last summer.
