December 15th: Friday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With all of Europe’s elite now at the heart of a stacked winter schedule, Friday’s offers a trio of heavyweight showdowns from across the continent.

Watching the likes of Tottenham, Monaco and Juventus all steal centre stage, we have found a trio of interesting betting markets that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Friday, December 15th

BST 20:00 Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham

While Tottenham might have shown plenty of issues on either side of November’s international break, Friday’s guests certainly claimed a major boost last weekend. Drawing a line under their extended rut as they secured a 3-0 victory against Champions League outfit Newcastle, Ange Postecoglu’s side will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. With their sights firmly set on securing a lucrative top-four finish, the former Celtic boss should be smelling a golden chance for his squad to secure back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since the end of October. Landing a 3-1 romp when they last met Friday’s opponents back on March 11th, Spurs should also be excited by a stellar record. In fact, Postecoglu’s men have won four of their previous five meetings against the bottom-three contenders. While Nottingham Forest might have eventually clung to a 1-1 stalemate away at Wolves last weekend, that result doesn’t cover what has become a real Premier League struggle. Now looking over their shoulder at a looming relegation scrap, it is no secret that Steve Cooper has a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders. Including a 5-0 drumming against Fulham earlier in the month, Forest have collected just a single point from their last five top-flight appearances. Two sides battling it out at opposite ends of the table, we are backing an away victory here.

Tip: Tottenham win @ 4/5

20:00 Genoa vs Juventus

Although Juventus might have been dealing with a string of issues behind the scenes in Turin last season, the Italian icons have come roaring back in some style. Battling it out at the top of the Serie A standings and with their sights firmly set on mounting a genuine title charge in 2024, Friday’s hosts are riding a real wave of momentum. Last seen putting in another thumping performance as they secured a 1-0 victory against defending champions Napoli, Massimiliano Allegri’s side will be confident of making another statement here. Knowing that they can at least briefly leapfrog Inter Milan to top spot, the Old Lady have collected 36 points from their first 15 Serie A appearances this season. Likewise, on a purple patch that is underlined by a 1-0 victory away at AC Milan on October 22nd, Juventus have not suffered a single top-flight defeat since the end of September. On the flip side, while Genoa might have made a Serie A return this season, Friday’s guests are enduring a major top-flight struggle. Last seen putting in another toothless display as they slumped to a 1-0 loss away at Monza, Alberto Gilardino’s side have mustered just a sole point from their previous four appearances since returning from November’s international break. Given a huge recent gulf in class, we are expecting a fairly routine away victory here.

Tip: Juventus win @ 19/20

20:00 Monaco vs Lyon

While Monaco might have marked their return from November’s international break with an action-packed 5-2 loss at the hands of defending champions PSG, Friday’s hosts have come roaring back. Last seen putting in another eye-catching performance as they secured a 2-1 victory away at Rennes, Adi Hutter’s side should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Opening December with a routine 2-0 win against Montpellier, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss will be calling on his high-flying squad to make another statement here. Currently sat in pole position to claim a Champions League return in 2024, Monaco have lost just a pair of their previous nine appearances. Likewise, gaining a fearsome reputation for their success on home soil, it should be highlighted that Hutter’s men have won all of their last four straight showdowns at the Stade Louis-II by an aggregate score of 9-3. However, while Monaco might be enjoying an extended Ligue 1 romp, Lyon are at the heart of what has become a public crisis. Remarkably sat rock-bottom of the top-flight standings and tipped as a leading relegation contender this season, Friday’s guests are dealing with a long list of issues. Hit with a 2-1 loss when they last travelled to Monaco 15 months ago, we are expecting a similar outcome this weekend.

Tip: Monaco win & Both teams to score @ 2/1
