Derry not happy to sit on bench

A report from the Sun suggests that Queens Park Rangers midfielder Shaun Derry could be on his way out of Loftus Road on loan in a search for first-team football.

The 34-year-old has not started a game in the English Premier League this season for Rangers and after the vast amount of arrivals in the summer transfer window, it looks as though he is a fair way down the pecking order.

At his age, Derry feels as though he needs to be playing regular football as if not, he is in danger of seeing out his career sitting on the bench.

It is thought that a number of Championship clubs will be interested in a loan move for the midfielder as he would add some fantastic experience to the squad.

Also, Derry was promoted with QPR to the top flight back in 2011, so has the knowhow of what it takes to make it out of an extremely competitive division.

He said: “I need to be playing football and will try to play at some place.”

It will be interesting to see where he ends up, and he may have to wait until January to move on – where he could find himself making a permanent move somewhere.
