Marseille coach Didier Deschamps says he would be thrilled to add Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero to his squad in the off-season.

Del Piero’s contract with Juventus is set to expire at the end of the season and the Serie A club have already announced that they will not renew his deal.

The former Italy international has been linked with PSG, Parma, New York Red Bulls and LA Galaxy.

Deschamps played alongside Del Piero at the Turin club for five years, before coaching the forward in the 2006/07 campaign.

“I have respect for what Alessandro has done in his career,” Deschamps told Rai Sport.

“He’s a champion whom I’ve had the good fortune to have as a team-mate and then a player.”

“If he chose to come to Marseille, I would welcome him with open arms.”

Del Piero has featured in 16 games in all competitions for Juve this season, scoring one goal.
