Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has accused Augsburg of preparing a substandard pitch for the team’s clash last Saturday.

Bundesliga champions Dortmund saw an eight-match winning run halted as they were held to a scoreless draw away to Augsburg last weekend.

Club chief executive Watzke was angered by the state of the playing surface at the SGL Arena, accusing the hosts of foul play.

“Apparently, they tried every possible measure to divert us from success,” Watzke is quoted as saying by Derwesten.de.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc described the conditions as ‘very bad’, while goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller said the goal-mouth area was ‘a health hazard’.

Jurgen Klopp’s men, who are five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they welcome Werder Bremen to the Westfalenstadion on Saturday.
