Drinkwater linked with overseas switch

Chelsea are ready to offer Danny Drinkwater to clubs abroad, according to the Star.

The central midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City twelve months ago but managed just five Premier League starts for the Blues last term.

The emergence of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and arrivals of Ross Barkley, Matteo Kovacic and Jorginho have seen him move further down the pecking order, with World Cup winners Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante also battling for a starting berth in the centre of the park.

Drinkwater has played twenty-three times for Chelsea with his last appearance coming in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City earlier this month.

His one and only goal for the club so far came in a 5-0 win over Stoke City back in December.
Chelsea host Arsenal this weekend in Saturday’s late kick-off and the home win can be backed at a price of 4/5.
