Emery: Three points for Valencia´s ´highest goal´

Valencia can book a spot in next year’s Champions League with a win at home to Levante in La Liga on Sunday.

The Mestalla outfit sit five points clear of fourth-placed Villarreal and – even though a draw is likely to see them win a group stage place in the continental competition – a win will allow Unai Emery’s side to go into their season-ending fixture at Osasuna with no pressure.

Emery is demanding a first-class effort from his players ahead of the fixture in the hopes of sealing the Champions League berth in front of the club’s home fans.

“Playing at home in front of our fans always provides the maximum obligation,” Emery said.

“Not to win, but to play well. This is part of our credibility. There are three important points up for grabs, and winning those we can reach our highest goal.”

“We will play both of these games to win them. We are aware of our credibility and we want to play a good game and win.”

Emery also stated that he personally will make a donation to support those involved in the earthquake that hit Lorca earlier this week, while the team will also be looking to offer their help.

“We are looking at making a team donation, and I personally will contribute to help them in this catastrophe,” he said.

“In this tough process of reconstruction and recovery of housing, with so many living on the streets, we are going to provide support.”

“I have many friends there, I lived there for three years and I know the difficulty there in returning to normality. All help will be welcome, and we will provide ours.”
