A solitary Filip Djuricic goal was enough to hand Heerenveen a fifth consecutive Eredivisie win at the expense of NAC Breda.

Serb midfielder Djuricic struck in the 34th minute to secure the 1-0 win for hosts Heerenveen, who saw off some late pressure from NAC to hold out for three points at Abe Lenstra Stadion.

The win moves Ron Jans’ third-placed side on to 43 points, two shy of joint leaders PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar who both have a game in hand.

A third straight defeat leaves NAC six points clear of the drop zone, though that gap can be halved if VVV Venlo win at De Graafschap on Saturday.
