Eredivisie hotshot plays down Liverpool link; Arsenal chasing Ghana international

Eredivisie hotshot plays down Liverpool link

Groningen striker David Texeira has played down reports linking him with a summer move to Liverpool.

The 20-year-old has largely impressed at Euroborg following his arrival from Defensor Sporting, and he is already mentioned as a possible target for a number of high-profile clubs.

The Uruguayan was heavily linked with a move to Anfield in January, but the player believes he is not yet ready to leave Groningen.

“I heard the rumours that Liverpool were after me, but people talk a lot,” Texeira told NUSport.

“It’s way too early to join a club like Liverpool. I need more experience first, and that’s why I joined Groningen.

“I want to develop here, and eventually join a bigger club, just like Luis (Suarez).”

Texeira, who comes from the same city as Luis Suarez, has enjoyed a similar career path as his more famous compatriot and many believe the two players will soon be paired at Liverpool.

Arsenal chasing Ghana international

Arsenal are weighing up move for Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare, Daily Mail reports.

Arsene Wenger is set to be handed a £55 million transfer kitty in the summer in order to finally build a squad capable of challenging for honours.

According to Daily Mail, Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare is one of the players on Wenger’s shortlist.

The player, who spent some time at Real Madrid youth squads after leaving Ghana, is equally adept at playing left-back and right-back.

After being released from Real Madrid, Opare managed to kick-start his career in Belgium and is again followed by top European clubs.

The 21-year-old was part of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations squad, but he failed to make a single appearance.

Agent reveals high interest in Dede

The agent of Vasco da Gama defender Dede has confirmed that numerous European clubs are showing interest in his client.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Juventus in January, but nothing came out of it.

The player is, however, expected to leave Brazil for Europe in the summer, and his representative reveals that several high-profile clubs have enquired about the player’s availability.

“Many clubs have contacted my recently,” Julian Aranda was quoted as saying in O Globo.

“Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain and other clubs are interested in the player. Genoa and Juventus had asked about him in December, but I haven’t heard from them since.”

Dede is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Brazil and he already has two Brazil caps to his name.

Vasco da Gama could decide to cash in on him in the summer, and we are likely to see a real bidding war for the player’s services.
