VVV Venlo remain mired in the relegation zone after going down 3-1 away to NAC Breda in the Eredivisie on Friday.

VVV have won just one game this campaign, and things looked grim from the outset at the Rat Verlegh Stadion after Brazilian Eric Botteghin scored the opener for the hosts after just three minutes.

It took the visitors just two minutes to equalise via midfielder Brian Linssen, but the match turned when Ferry de Regt gave away a penalty on 25 minutes, receiving a second yellow card in the process.

Donny Gorter nailed the spot kick to restore NAC’s one goal advantage and with only 10 men it was always going to be hard to VV to come back.

Omer Bayram landed the killer blow just before half-time, making the score 3-1 to all but seal the result.

And although there were no more goals after the interval, NAC never looked troubled as they registered their fourth win of the season.
