Chairman David Bernstein has revealed the Football Association (FA) have no plans to begin searching for a successor to Fabio Capello.
The Italian will step down as England manager after the Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, if the team qualify for the tournament as expected.
Asked about whether the FA has already begun considering who will replace Capello, Bernstein told the Leaders in Football conference: “It is not something on our agenda. We are supporting our manager. You can’t be half pregnant on these things.”
“We are completely behind Fabio and supporting him on Friday (in England’s qualifier against Montenegro) and hopefully all the way through to the Euros.”
One report on Wednesday suggested that there was growing support within the FA for Capello to continue with England after Euro 2012.
But Bernstein gave that idea short shrift. “I love the media. They are amazing aren’t they? One day he is going next week, the next day he is staying for 20 years.”
“The position is very clear. He is our manager until the end of the European Championships. That is it.”
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is the strong favourite to succeed Capello next year.
