Fabinho to Man United looking increasingly likely

French champions Monaco did well not to have their entire squad dismantled by the European super clubs in the summer after their remarkable title-winning season, but they could be set to lose another of their key players in this January transfer window. Fabinho could be the next man to depart the Ligue 1 club, according to the Star, with Manchester United looking the most likely destination.

The midfielder, who has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch for some time, reignited rumours this week in an interview with Lance. The Brazilian said, “My time with Monaco was good, but I feel my time here is coming to an end,” and that he wants a “new challenge.”

Fabinho has registered four goals and three assists in 21 Ligue 1 appearances this season, despite playing in a relatively deep-lying midfield role. His addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad should make United more competitive, and hopefully put up more of a challenge against the dominance of their City rivals.
