Fabregas silences rumours of Como exit

Cesc Fabregas silenced any rumours linking him with a move away from Como next season, insisting he is “very involved and attached” to the club.

Como are fifth in Serie A and fighting for a Champions League spot in just their second season after being promoted to the Italian top-flight.

They lost 4-3 to league leaders Inter on Sunday, leaving Fabregas’ side two points behind fourth-placed Juventus in the table.

The Spaniard has taken charge of 70 Serie A games, winning 29 (D20 L21) and averaging 1.53 points per game on the back of their top-half finish in 2024-25.

Como have conceded the fewest goals in the league this season (26), while only Inter (75) have scored more than their 56.

Como are also in the Coppa Italia semi-finals this term. They drew 0-0 with Inter in the first leg and travel to San Siro for the return fixture on April 24.

Fabregas revealed he had an offer to leave the club last summer, but opted to stay and continue their rise to the top of Italian football.

“That would seem very unlikely, because I am very involved and attached to Como,” replied Fabregas when asked if he could see himself at a different Italian club.

“It is true that I was contacted last year, but I decided to stay because I love this club. I am very happy with what I can do and what we are achieving at Como.

“The project is very important to me. I don’t want to seem presumptuous here, but I do this work purely for the passion, so I need to feel that I can do something new.”
