February 18th: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 8/1

In what looks set to be a stacked schedule from across Europe this weekend, we have a string of eye-catching affairs. So, for those of you looking to place a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth taking note of.

Saturday February 18th

BST 14:30 Bochum vs Freiburg

While Freiburg might have opened February with a nightmare display away at Borussia Dortmund, Saturday’s guests have certainly proven that was nothing more than a minor blip. Last seen putting in another impressive display as they claimed a 2-1 victory at home against Stuttgart, Christian Streich’s men have once again impressed almost everyone across Germany this season. Opening this weekend’s fixtures battling it out in the top-four and with their sights set on securing a famous Champions League spot, the Reds have lost just one of their previous five domestic matchups. Extending on their DFP Pokal adventure earlier in the month as they claimed a routine 2-0 win away at Sandhausen, Freiburg should be smelling the chance to lay down another marker here. Picking up a 1-0 victory when they welcomed Bochum to the Europa-Park Stadion back on August 26th, Saturday’s guests are rightfully tipped as a standout pick. With Thomas Letsch’s side suffering a routine 3-0 loss away at Bayern Munich last weekend, the Blues are firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. Holding just a two-point buffer from slipping into the bottom-three, Bochum have lost four of their last five domestic battles. With that run highlighted by an action-packed 5-2 loss at the hands of Mainz last month, we’re backing an away win on Saturday afternoon.

Tip: Freiburg win @ 5/4

15:00 Wolves vs Bournemouth

Mounting that stunning second-half comeback away at Southampton last weekend, Wolves are certainly enjoying what has been a welcomed boost in the Midlands. Eventually claiming a thrilling 2-1 win at St. Mary’s, Julen Lopetegui has impressed many since arriving in the Premier League. Skyrocketing their way out of the drop zone and now sitting in pole position to extend on their Premier League status this season, the one-time Real Madrid boss will be calling on his side to make another statement here. Putting in what was a famous display on February 4th as they cruised their way to a remarkable 3-0 romp against Liverpool, Saturday’s hosts have lost just a pair of their previous eight domestic battles within 90 minutes. With the mood in their camp appearing to be at the highest it has been on either side of the World Cup break, Wolves should be looking forward to Bournemouth’s arrival this weekend. While the Cherries might have claimed an eye-catching 1-1 draw at home against Champions League contenders Newcastle last time out, Gary O’Neil’s side are enduring an extended wobble. Dropping into the relegation zone, Saturday’s guests are yet to pick up a single Premier League victory since opening 2023. In what could prove to be a season-defining meeting, we’re backing a home victory for a resurging Wolves.

Tip: Wolves win & Under 4.5 goals @ 19/20

15:00 Brentford vs Crystal Palace

Eventually snatching what was a hugely controversial 1-1 draw away at league leaders Arsenal last weekend, Brentford are in the midst of what has become a stellar domestic flurry. Only continuing to gain a string of praise, Thomas Frank’s side are riding what has been a famous wave of momentum in west London. Currently sat ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, some in the Bees’ camp are even dreaming of a genuine European charge in 2023. Already proving that they can mix it with all of the Premier League’s elite, Frank’s high-flying squad are now unbeaten in each of their previous 10 consecutive top-flight appearances. Heading into the World Cup’s winter break with a sensation 2-1 win away at defending champions Manchester City, Frank’s squad are rightfully tipped as a standout pick this weekend. Last seen in front of their own supporters breezing their way to a routine 3-0 romp against Southampton on February 4th, a downbeat Crystal Palace will know that they face a tough challenge here. Although Saturday’s guests might have just about snatched a flattering 1-1 draw at home against Brighton, it does not cover what has been a worrying blip for Patrick Vieira’s side. Now winning just one of their previous 10 domestic matchups across all formats, we’re backing a home victory here.

Tip: Brentford win & Under 4.5 goals @ 23/20
