Fernando’s representatives have played down reports linking their client with a January move to Inter.

They claim there have been no approaches as of yet for the Porto midfielder, although Inter’s technical director, Marco Branca, has already confirmed that he is tracking the Brazilian.

“It’s just speculation,” OnSoccer International told calciomercatoweb.com.

“We have not spoken with anyone. There were some months when it comes to Italian teams, English, Spanish, but the reality is that there is nothing to anybody.”

“And it’s normal that rumours arise because he is an important player, but they are, in fact, only rumours.”

“Porto traditionally never sell their prized pieces in January.”

“He is a serious and exemplary professional not thinking of anything else other than his team.”

Fernando, who has yet to feature for the Brazil national side, joined Porto from Vila Nova in 2007 and has made 77 appearances for the club to date.
