AZ Alkmaar have extended their Eredivisie winning streak to five, having beaten FC Utrecht 2-0 in Friday’s only Dutch league game.

The side, managed by former Ajax and Barcelona boss Louis van Gaal, took the lead through El Hamdaoui after 8 minutes and Demy de Zeeuw ended Utrecht’s hopes netting for 2-0 in added time.

AZ have been particularly strong in defense this season, having allowed only 11 goals in 15 games. The last five games went by without conceding a single goal.

In the Eredivisie, the Alkmaar outfit now have a six-points lead over second-placed Ajax and FC Twente follow at another two points.

Ajax travel to face De Graafschap on Sunday while Twente host Willem II. This weekend’s most attractive clash would be the match between two troubled sides, PSV and Feyenoord.
