Frank Lampard to the Los Angeles Galaxy?

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has shot down rumors that Chelsea FC are willing to sell star midfielder Frank Lampard to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The Portuguese also added that he believes Lampard will regain his form with Chelsea FC in the coming weeks.

Lampard was not included in the starting XI for Chelsea’s must-win Champions League group game versus Valencia earlier this week, fuelling speculation that the English international is out of favor at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about the rumor linking Lampard to the L.A. Galaxy, Villas-Boas told reporters: “I have no idea. There is nothing from our side.”

“We have a lot of competence in the team. Everybody is challenging for their place. The conversation for Lamps is exactly the same for all of the players.

“All of them are competing to be the best, to be in the starting eleven. All of them deserve credit and he’ll turn things around for sure.”

Would a Frank Lampard transfer to the L.A. Galaxy make sense?

Very much so. Lampard would essentially be replacing David Beckham in the squad, something he has done in the past with the England national team.

That being said, the chances of Lampard of joining the Galaxy do not look great at the moment, which is all the better for Lampard.

Despite being in the twilight of his career, Lampard should avoid going to the MLS at all costs.

Just look at what happened to Thierry Henry. Perhaps Frank should push for a move to Anzhi?

Villas-Boas didn’t really provide any valuable intelligence on Lampard, but he did admit that Nicolas Anelka and Alex have handed in transfer requests.

“It’s a different situation [to Lampard] because it’s a transfer request that’s been accepted,” said Villas-Boas.

“[Alex] will be linked to everybody in the world because he’s a top quality player, and Nico is the same. He’s been linked to everybody. For sure it will continue until the transfer window opens.”

Anelka and Alex are not even training at the moment, but AVB admitted that they could find themselves back into first team considerations in the future.

I find that impossible to believe, but that’s just me.

“Not at the moment but it doesn’t mean it can’t change. These are players of top integrity, top human values and we respect them,” said Andre Villas-Boas.

“The impact for the group was tremendous. The group also misses their relationship with us but it’s something that we felt was for the benefit of the team.

“Again, it can change from one week to another but at the moment that’s not likely.”
