Enjoying what can only be described as a remarkable start to the new La Liga campaign, high flying Getafe will travel to Girona on Friday night.

Starting with Girona, although an eight-match unbeaten run may have seen Eusebio Sacristán’s side eyeing up a potential European push, they’re coming off the back of some very disappointing performances. Slumping to a 2-0 loss away at Sevilla last time out, they have now lost their last two La Liga outings on the bounce and are still looking for their first points in December. WIth only their goal difference keeping them in the top half of the table, it will be their defensive issues giving Sacristán the biggest headache. Now failing to record a clean sheet in their last five matches, no team in the top 10 holds a worse defensive record.

As for the visitors, while Girona might be struggling with their form of late, the same can not be said for Getafe. Under the guidance of José Bordalás, The Deep Blues appear to be going from strength to strength. Coming off the back of a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad, Getafe are unbeaten in their last five, a run that stems over a month. It will be their recent defensive record most impressing Bordalás. Now conceding under a goal per game this season, they hold a better defensive record than defending specialists Atletico Madrid. In fact, no team in La Liga holds a better defensive record approaching Christmas.
