Speaking to L’Equipe, Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud admitted he was an object of interest for Olympique Marseille during this year’s summer transfer window. However, he never contemplated leaving Stamford Bridge.
Giroud spent five and a half years at Arsenal, making a total of 253 appearances and scoring 105 goals in all competitions for the Gunners, before moving to Chelsea in January this year for £18million. So far he put on the blue shirt 26 times and got five strikes to his name, and in the meantime he added the World Cup title to his achievements, winning the tournament in Russia with France this summer.
The 32-year-old striker believes Chelsea are the ‘top club’ in England, the one that won the most Premier League titles in the last decade, and he named them as the club where he wants to be, seeing no valid reason to move anywhere. He admitted there was contact between the clubs, but he is adamant he wasn’t about to ‘pack his bags again’ only three months after arriving to Stamford Bridge.
