Sporting Clube de Goa held Mohun Bagan to a 1-1 draw in round ten of India’s I-League in Kolkata, on Saturday.

Syed Rahim Nabi broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute for the home side, but seven minutes later, Ogba Kalu Nnanna equalised from the penalty spot to avoid his side’s fourth consecutive defeat.

Mohun Bagan were without the services of Jose Ramirez Barreto and striker Sunil Chhetri, while Odafa Okolie led the attack for the Mariners, with Jewel Raja playing at the center of the park essaying the role of a playmaker.

Sporting Clube de Goa surprisingly started without James Moga and regulars such as Freiman Peixoto and Samananda Singh.

Odafa tested Milagrio Medeira with the first shot of the match, but the Sporting keeper did well to block the shot, as Ekendra Singh’s boys were kept busy in their own half in the initial minutes.

Jewel Raja had a chance in the 12th minute after being set up by Snehashish Chakraborty from the left, but the Mohun Bagan midfielder failed to find the target from close range.

Subrata Bhattacharya’s side held on to possession for most of the first half while Sporting’s first real chance came in the 19th minute when Kalu sent a week shot on target.
