Marseille president Vincent Labrune says Lucho Gonzalez is almost certain to return to Porto in the January transfer window.
Argentine Gonzalez joined Marseille for 18 million euros in June 2009, helping the club to the Ligue 1 title during his first season in the south of France.
He was widely tipped for a move away from the Stade Velodrome in the off-season.
Despite rumours of strong interest from Arsenal, a buyer could not be found for the 31-year-old.
It now seems the former River Plate star will be on his way, with Labrune telling Canal+ that Gonzalez is: “97 per cent at Porto”.
Meanwhile, L’Equipe is reporting Marseille have lined up an end-of-season move for Le Harve’s 22-year-old attacker Ryan Mendes.
The Cape Verdean has scored nine goals in 20 Ligue 2 games so far this term.
