Grant on his way out of Chelsea

Avram Grant has pushed the title race to the last match day and reached the final of both the Carling Cup and the Champions League. However his team ended the season empty-handed which has prompted plenty of speculation about his future as Chelsea boss. Speculation which was fuelled by Grant’s failure to win the public support of the Chelsea board.

“The standards we’ve set at the club, second is not something we’ve settled for.” Kenyon said of Chelsea’s season.

“Three months ago, we were involved in four competitions and then six weeks ago we were still in two and this week we got knocked out of the last one.

“It’s disappointing. Everybody would share that view.”

Following what the Chelsea board see as a poor season under the leadership of Avram Grant, a new manager could be lined up to take charge of the batch of superstars at Chelsea. Frank Rijkaard is the highest profile manager without a job – apart from former Chelsea boss Mourinho – but rumours in Italy have also mentioned Inter Milan boss Mancini as a candidate for the hot-seat at Stamford Bridge.
