Haaland eyes Real Madrid future

According to AS, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland intends to join Real Madrid at some point in the future, and he sees the upcoming Champions League quarterfinal as the perfect opportunity to prove himself to the Real hierarchy.

On April 9th, Real will host City at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the rematch at the Etihad is scheduled to take place eight days later. Haaland is obviously the greatest attacking weapon at the disposal of City manager Pep Guardiola, and those in white tasked with stopping him aren’t likely to have an easy job.

Haaland’s original plan was apparently to sign for Los Blancos in 2025, after three seasons with City, but Real’s likely acquisition of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer has spurred him on to prove he can be just as vital for the future of the Spanish giants as the France captain.

City would obviously like the 23-year-old Norway international to stay for a long time and they’re hurrying to get him to sign a new contract, despite his current one having three years left to run. However, agent Rafaela Pimenta, continues to pressure the Premier League champions into including a special release clause in the deal, valid exclusively for Real Madrid.
