Henderson on verge of leaving Liverpool, Fabinho could follow

According to multiple sources, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has decided to accept an offer to join Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, providing the two clubs reach an agreement on a transfer fee.

The 33-year-old England international was intrigued by the offer straight away, but he was apparently held back for a while by the realization that leaving the Premier League now would reduce his chance of making Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros next year. In the end, it seems the wages offered were too much to refuse.

It’s been said that Liverpool would want no more than £10 million for their skipper, which seems rather little despite his age, especially with the fact in mind that his contract has two years left to run.

Meanwhile, David Ornstein of The Athletic says Liverpool are set to receive an offer of £40 million for Fabinho from Al-Ittihad, though it’s unclear if the 29-year-old Brazilian would want the move. Either way, the issue is expected to be resolved quickly, and Liverpool are thought to be working towards further additions to their midfield ranks.
