Lazio midfielder Hernanes said he feels fit for their Serie A clash with Genoa on Sunday, despite being hospitalised in mid-week.

Hernanes was stretchered off during their Coppa Italia semi-final second leg win over Juventus, with the Italian capital club advancing 3-2 on aggregate via a goal at the death.

The former Sao Paulo star clashed heads with Luca Marrone and drew blood before Lazio secured their passage through to the final of the competition.

Hernanes underwent an MRI scan and was discharged after the results showed no serious damage, but he claims to have no recollection of the mid-air collision.

“If it were up to me, I’d play the next game (away to Genoa),” the 27-year-old said.

“I started to regain consciousness in the ambulance, but I have no memory of the impact.

“When I arrived at the hospital, they told me we were in the final and the joy drowned out the pain. I want to thank the fans who supported me and the team as they always give us positive energy.”
