Inter midfielder Hernanes insists the warm welcome he has received since moving to San Siro fully justifies his decision to leave Lazio.

The 28-year-old completed an emotional deadline-day move to Inter and has settled quickly, providing the assist for Walter Samuel’s 48th-minute goal on his debut in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Sassuolo.

Hernanes played the whole 90 minutes as Walter Mazzarri’s team ended a run of five league games without a win

“(It’s) fantastic,” he told the club’s official website. “I’ve been welcomed really well by everyone.

“The people who work here are all really nice folk, so I’m even happier with my decision to join.

“I was a bit agitated in the build-up, I was desperate to play and make my debut

“The best thing of course is that we won. I’m very happy with how it went.”
