July 26th: Wednesday’s Daily Double – 4/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the Scottish League Cup stealing most of the midweek headlines, Wednesday promises us a host of eye-catching affairs.

For those of you out there looking to stick on a Wednesday flutter, we have found a pair of tips that can potentially offer a great return for your midweek bet.

12:35 Nantong Zhiyun vs Wuhan Three Towns

Although Wuhan might have already accepted that it would take a major Super League miracle to defend their domestic crown in 2023, Wednesday’s guests have certainly claimed a welcomed boost over the past couple of months. Skyrocketing their way up the top-tier standings since returning from June’s international break, the Blues will now have their sights set on claiming a second FA Cup title this season.

Last seen over the weekend putting in an eye-catching performance as they claimed a 2-1 win at home against Meizhou Hakka, Tsutomu Takahata’s men should find the mood in their camp at a continued high.

Along with opening July with an action-packed 3-1 victory away at Shenzhen, the Three Towns have lost just one of their last nine domestic appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to May 27th.

Extending on their FA Cup adventure thanks to a 5-1 romp away at Juangxi Beidamen, Wuhan will be looking to avoid a potential banana skin in midweek.

Although Nantong Zhiyun might have now snatched a single point in each of their previous five straight Super League appearances, Gabri’s men find themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap and in an uphill battle to avoid being hit with an immediate second-tier return.

Mustering just a single domestic victory from their previous nine attempts – a run that stems back to June 4th – Nantong have gained a reputation for their lively outcomes.

It should be highlighted, the Jiangsu-based outfit have seen each of their last six straight outings finish with both teams getting on the scoresheet.

19:45 Edinburgh City vs Ross County

Only just about clinging to their Premiership status last season after what was a downbeat top-flight campaign, Ross County are desperate to find some much-needed stability this time around. Although the Staggies might have signed off the 2022/23 campaign in the midst of a public struggle, Malky Mackay’s men do appear to have made some real improvements over the summer.

Ending their pre-season preparations with a routine 5-1 romp away at Clachnacuddin, the one-time Watford boss has certainly seen his squad come flying out of the traps since getting their League Cup adventure underway this month.

Opening their Group D run with a stunning performance as they clinched an action-packed 5-1 romp away at Stranraer, Ross County have clinched back-to-back League Cup victories and they now sit as a landslide contender to punch their knockout stage ticket.

Last seen over the weekend picking up a 2-1 win at home against Morton and notching seven strikes in their consecutive Group D appearances, the midweek guests will certainly be looking to make another statement here.

On the flip side, left frustrated last season as they missed out on the chance to claim a top-four finish, Edinburgh have certainly shown a string of issues on either side of their summer run.

Along with opening their League Cup campaign with a nightmare 5-3 defeat at the hands of Kelty Hearts, Alan Maybury’s men have now lost four of their previous five appearances across all competitions.

Ending their League One adventure with a woeful 4-1 drumming at home against Airdrieonians on May 6th, the Citizens should certainly face a real examination here.
