July 30th: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With England’s EFL making its return this weekend, we really do have a stacked schedule on our hands. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday July 30th

BST 12:00 Livingston vs Rangers

Starting with Saturday’s guests, after watching Celtic immediately snatch back their domestic crown last season, there is no doubt that Rangers will be looking to lay down an early marker here. Although the Blues might have fallen short out in Spain a couple of months ago as Eintracht Frankfurt lifted the Europa League title, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men did gain plenty of plaudits. Signing off the 2021/22 campaign by at least securing another Scottish Cup for their trophy cabinet, the former Feyenoord boss should be relishing this weekend’s opener. Picking up a 3-1 victory against Premier League outfit West Ham on July 19th in a friendly contest, it should also be noted that Saturday’s guests bagged 16 points from their final six Premiership matchups away from Ibrox last season. Tipped as a landslide pick here, Rangers also hold a rather rampant record against Livingston. Including a 1-0 victory when the two sides faced off back in January, van Bronckhorst’s side have won each of their last six meetings against the Lions. On the flip side, although the Whites might have enjoyed a bright summer run while on League Cup duties, David Martindale’s men will know they face a huge task here. Despite largely impressing on home soil last season, we’re backing the Blues to open the 2022/23 campaign with a victory on their travels.

Tip: Rangers win & Under 3.5 goals @ 11/10

15:00 Blackburn Rovers vs QPR

After eventually finishing off the 2021/22 campaign sat six points adrift of clinching a play-off spot, Blackburn will be desperate to go one step further this time around. Getting a new era underway at Ewood Park this weekend after appointing new boss Jon Dahl Tomasson last month, the Rovers have enjoyed an impressive pre-season run. Signing off their preparations with a 1-0 victory against League One outfit Lincoln on the road, Saturday’s hosts were unbeaten in each of their final five friendly showdowns. However, if Blackburn are to clinch a top-six finish this time around, Tomasson will know that his side must find some stability on home soil. On a run that was highlighted by 1-0 losses against Bristol City and Stoke, the Lancashire-based outfit collected just a single win from their final six matchups at Ewood Park last season. On the flip side, also appointing a new boss this summer as Michael Beale arrived in west London, QPR could only sign off their preparations with a routine 3-0 loss against Crystal Palace. Freefalling their way down the table at the back end of last season after a nightmare run of form, the Hoops eventually finished nine points adrift of the play-off places. However, it should be highlighted, with each of the last three straight meetings between Blackburn and QPR producing just a trio of strikes, we’re backing what could be a low-scoring affair when the Championship campaign gets underway.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11

22:00 Chicago Fire vs Atlanta United

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, putting in another hugely impressive display last weekend, it appears that Chicago are in the midst of a stellar purple patch. Eventually landing an eye-catching 3-1 win away at Vancouver, the Fire have now won each of their last three MLS showdowns. With it looking like the mood around Soldier Field is at the highest it has been this season, Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson has seen his side skyrocket their way up the Eastern Conference standings. Now remarkably sat just two points adrift of breaking into the Final Series spots, Chicago have also gained a reputation for their continued success on home soil. Along with winning their last three MLS matchups by an aggregate score of 6-1, it should also be noted that Saturday’s hosts have won four of their last five fixtures in Illinois. Likewise, keeping a clean sheet in each of those four victories, Hendrickson’s side should be smelling another chance here. On the flip side, last seen getting hit with a 2-0 loss against LA Galaxy on the road, Atlanta are in the midst of a hugely worrying run of form. On a run that stems all the way back to June 19th, the former MLS champions have won just one of their previous six domestic matchups. Also managing to muster just a single point from any of their last four appearances away from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we’re backing a home victory here.

Tip: Chicago Fire win & Under 4.5 goals @ 29/20
