June 22nd: Thursday’s MLS Double – 3/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With the MLS taking center stage in midweek, we are treated to a host of heavyweight showdowns from across America’s elite.

Ahead of a stacked schedule, we also have a handful of fixtures that can offer a great return for your midweek flutter.

So, for those of you looking to place a Thursday bet, we have created your ultimate MLS double.

00:30 Cincinnati vs Toronto FC

Although Cincinnati might have entered the international break with late heartbreak away at Vancouver on June 10th, Thursday’s hosts have only continued on a remarkable MLS romp since opening the 2023 campaign. Opening the midweek fixtures holding a commanding five-point buffer at the top of the Eastern Conference table, Pat Noonan’s men are riding what has been a stellar wave of momentum.

Breezing their way to another play-off ticket this season, the Garys are unbeaten in each of their last 13 straight domestic appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to April 15th.

Punching their US Open Cup semi-final spot earlier in the month as they secured a 3-1 victory at home against Pittsburgh, Cincinnati have certainly gained a reputation for their continued success in the final third.

Including another 3-1 romp away at New York City on May 31st, Noonan’s high-flying squad have notched 27 MLS strikes in their 17 top-flight appearances this season.

With Toronto forced to settle for a single point in each of their last three MLS appearances, the Reds are enduring another public struggle.

Battling it out at the foot of the Eastern Conference table, Bob Bradley’s men have recorded just one win from their last nine domestic outings.

Knowing that they face a real challenge when they travel to the TQL Stadium in midweek, Thursday’s guests will also be concerned by a downbeat record against a high-flying Cincinnati.

Hit with a routine 2-0 loss when they welcomed the Garys to BMO Field 13 months ago, Toronto have lost four of their previous five showdowns against the runaway Eastern Conference leaders.

00:30 Atlanta United vs New York City

Although Atlanta might have come under a huge amount of scrutiny last season as they failed to clinch a play-off spot in the Eastern Conference, Thursday’s hosts have made plenty of improvements this time around. Making a welcomed return to winning ways last time out as they entered the international break with a 3-1 romp at home against DC United, the five Stripes are leading the chase to punch a top-seven finish this time around.

Really gaining a reputation for their free-scoring displays in the final third, Gonzalo Pineda’s side should be smelling the chance to mark their MLS return with another statement in midweek.

In fact, along with picking up seven points from just their previous three MLS appearances at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, it should be highlighted that Atlanta have notched a remarkable 10 goals on that three-match unbeaten run in front of their own supporters.

Likewise, suffering just a single MLS defeat on home soil since opening the 2023 campaign, Pineda’s side should be relishing New York’s arrival in the early hours of Thursday.

Last seen over the weekend having to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Columbus, the Sky Blues are in the midst of what has quickly become an extended MLS nightmare this season.

Along with signing off May with a 3-1 drumming at home against Cincinnati, Thursday’s guests are without a win from any of their last nine straight domestic appearances – a run that stems all the way back to April 22nd.

Appearing to need a miracle in their bid to punch a play-off spot, interim boss Nick Cushing has also seen his downbeat squad fail to pick up a single away victory since the start of February.
