Juventus chief Comolli backs Locatelli to deliver trophies after signing contract extension

Juventus CEO Damien Comolli believes Manuel Locatelli’s contract renewal with the club highlights the Bianconeri’s ambitions of fighting for multiple trophies on all fronts.

Locatelli put pen to paper on a contract extension with Juventus on Friday, which will keep him with the Serie A giants until 2030.

The 28-year-old joined Juventus from Sassuolo in 2021 on an initial two-year loan before signing a five-year contract extension in November 2023, reportedly worth €37.5m.

During his time in Turin, Locatelli has made 224 appearances in all competitions, netting nine times as well as providing 17 assists for his team-mates.

Since his first game for Juventus, no player has won more tackles than Locatelli’s 288 among Serie A players, while only Alessandro Bastoni (11,416) and Amir Rrahmani (11,237) have had more successful passes than the Italian international’s 10,660.

Locatelli has won just one trophy, the Coppa Italia in 2023-24, with Juventus, though Comolli believes tying the midfielder down to a new deal is a step in the right direction concerning silverware.

“We all remember when Manuel, upon his arrival in 2021, spoke with great emotion about having always been a Juventus fan,” emphasised Comolli.

“His contract renewal, therefore, represents the natural continuation of the growth of his leadership on the pitch, of his indomitable Juventus spirit, in complete harmony with the values ​​and ambitions of our club.

“It is a further step towards giving solidity and continuity to our sporting project, with an eye to the future and the goal of making the team increasingly competitive.”

Locatelli has featured 41 times in all competitions in 2025-26 since the Club World Cup, and though Juventus will not pick up any titles this season, they remain on track for a top-four finish in Serie A.

Luciano Spalletti’s side are fourth in the top-flight, two points ahead of Como, who are one place behind them, ahead of facing Bologna at Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
