K.League Preview: Top two meet at Steelyard, Suwon face Sangmu

Pohang Steelers host Jeonbuk Motors as the top two in the K.League clash at the Steelyard Stadium on Sunday.

Champions Pohang slipped to a second defeat in their last four league matches when they were beaten 2-1 at Suwon Bluewings last Saturday and they are now two points behind the leaders as they prepare to lock horns with Choi Kang-hee’s side.

The Steelers were stunned as late goals from Roger and Yeom Ki-hun consigned them to defeat last time out.

Jeonbuk hold a narrow advantage at the summit but they also dropped points last weekend, with Seoul holding them to a goalless draw.

Pohang slumped to a 2-0 home defeat when they last faced Choi’s men and they also have the added incentive of knowing that they can take over at the top by gaining revenge this weekend.

Suwon – in third – will attempt to build on their recent good form by stretching their unbeaten run to seven games with a victory at Sangju Sangmu on Saturday.

Fourth-placed Jeju United are now unbeaten in seven matches, but go in search of a first win in three games when they entertain Incheon United on Saturday.

Busan I’Park’s winless run was extended to six games by a 2-1 defeat at Jeonnam Dragons last weekend, and the bottom-of-the-table side will attempt to end that dismal sequence by beating Seongnam at home.

The Dragons had lost their previous three matches before that positive result last time out, which they will aim to build on by beating Ulsan at Gwangyang Stadium on Sunday.
