Kaka staying put, says Mourinho

Jose Mourinho insists Real Madrid will do everything they can to keep Brazilian midfielder Kaka at the Bernabeu.

Kaka made a successful return from injury last week after more than six months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Media reports indicated that his former club AC Milan and their arch rivals Inter Milan were both interested in bringing the 28-year-old back to Italy, but Mourinho says the 2007 World Player of the Year is staying put in Spain.

“Kaka is staying with us, definitely,” Mourinho told Sky Sport Italia. “It took so long to get to work with him.”

“He told me, with real honesty, that he feels it is very important that he demonstrates that he is a Real player. He is now in a situation where he can do so, while last year he did not have that chance.”

Mourinho will no doubt be hoping Kaka can re-produce the form he delivered against Villarreal at the weekend, a match in which he scored his first goal of the season in Real’s 4-2 win.

And the Brazilian thanked the home fans for giving him such a rousing reception.

“To return to the Bernabeu and score was such a special moment. It had been a long time since I scored, so it was very important to me,” Kaka told the Real Madrid website.

“I felt such raw emotion from the crowd. It is hard to describe. I would like to thank the fans for such a warm welcome after all the problems I had. It was all worth it. Hard work pays off.”
