Kane, Osimhen & Vlahovic: The striking superstars who are reportedly on Manchester United’s wishlist this summer

While many around Europe were left stunned during the January transfer window as Wout Weghorst arrived at Old Trafford on a short-term deal, it is fair to say that the Burnley loanee isn’t Manchester United’s key man in the long run.

With the Dutch international yet to open his Premier League account since returning back among England’s elite, it has been the red-hot Marcus Rashford who is spearheading United’s top-for charge.

Watching their homegrown superstar only brake a string of record since returning from the World Cup break, it is no secret that Erik ten Hag is desperate to add a full-time striking option when the window reopens this summer.

Although Manchester United’s ownership might remain a huge talking point with the Glazer family finally looking to end their controversial tenure in charge, it is believed that ten Hag will be heavily backed ahead of next season.

Although a record-breaking January transfer market might have only just slammed shut, we have taken a look at three striking heavyweights who have been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Harry Kane – Tottenham

While it might be a certain Erling Haaland who has stolen most of the Premier League headlines this season, Harry Kane is enjoying his own record-breaking flurry.

Although the Tottenham talisman might have failed to guide England past the quarter-finals of last winter’s World Cup, Kane has continued to shine while on domestic duties.

Writing himself in Tottenham’s record books on January 23rd after bagging his 266th goal for the club and becoming Spurs’ all-time top scorer, the 29-year-old once again finds growing scrutiny over his long-term future in north London.

While The Times might have suggested last week that Spurs have no interest in selling the England skipper to a Premier League rival, it is believed that Manchester United are willing to test Daniel Levy’s resolve this summer.

Only sat behind Haaland in the race for this season’s Golden Boot, Kane appears to have a string of admirers around Old Trafford.

Entering the final 18 months of his contract in north London, The Manchester Evening News are reporting that ten Hag would be willing to spend £85million on Tottenham’s record-breaker.

Victor Osimhen – Napoli

With Napoli cruising their way towards a first Serie A crown since 1990 this season, the Italian icons have only continued to gain a host of plaudits from across Europe.

Making real history on either side of the World Cup’s winter break and tipped as a potential Champions League dark horse in 2023, Luciano Spalletti’s side have also gained a fearsome reputation for their performances in the final third.

Holding a commanding 16-point buffer at the top of the Serie A table, there is no doubt that Victor Osimhen has played a crucial role in Napoli’s remarkable campaign.

Once again finding the net as Napoli claimed a 3-0 romp at home against Cremonese last weekend, Osimhen has certainly cemented his spot as one of Europe’s most lethal number nines. In fact, the one-time Lille starlet has now notched 16 strikes in as many appearances on either side of the festive interval.

With it heavily speculated during the January transfer window that United were keen on bringing Osimhen to the Premier League, Sky Sports reported last week that the 24-year-old is on ten Hag’s summer wishlist.

Dusan Vlahovic – Juventus

While it might appear that Kane and Osimhen are ten Hag’s two standout favourites this summer, the ex-Ajax boss will know that he could be priced out of a blockbuster move.

However, with it suggested that ten Hag is already putting together a back-up plan, Dusan Vlahovic has once again emerged as another viable option that could be Premier League bound in 2023.

With the Italian heavyweights dealing with a string of public issues behind the scenes and hit with a 15-point deduction last month, it is no secret that Juventus need to slash their bumped wage bill.

Crashing out of the Champions League prior to the World Cup break and needing a miracle if they’re to claim a top-four finish this season, Vlahovic could be forced out of Turin in order to help stabilise their financial crisis.

Although the Serbian striker might have struggled with his stability since making a £58million move from Fiorentina 13 months ago, he is leading the chase for Juve’s Golden Boot this season.

The Express are reporting that ten Hag is keeping an eye on Vlahovic’s situation ahead of a potential swoop this summer.
