Keylor Navas will be a great signing for PSG

According to Spanish sports newspaper Marca, Real Madrid goalkeeper Kaylor Navas is set to move to PSG. The Costa Rican has reportedly handed in a transfer request in the Spanish capital.

The French club was believed to be interested in signing Navas at the end of last season. However, Los Blancos reportedly demanded a fee of around 20million euros for the experienced goalkeeper, which PSG baulked at.

It now seems that the Spanish giants are now open to allowing Navas leave on loan after his transfer request. They will now seek a replacement.

Navas has been an excellent servant to Real Madrid

Keylor Navas has been a fantastic servant to Real Madrid, despite the fact that at times he has been underappreciated in the Spanish capital. It seemed he was never high-profile enough for Los Blancos, but always did a solid job in-between the sticks.

He is a favourite of Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who reinstalled the Costa Rican international as number one on his return to the club last season. However, reportedly Zidane has stated made it clear that Thibaut Courtois will be the team’s number one next season.

The 32-year-old has made 104 La Liga appearances for Los Blancos in his five years with the club. He has won the Champions League on three occasions and also La Liga once.

Deserves to be first-choice goalkeeper somewhere

A move to PSG will likely give Navas the first-team football he deserves after his performances for Real Madrid. Maybe he will be shown a bit more faith in Paris than he was seemingly in Madrid.

PSG are believed to be looking for a top-class number one in an attempt to finally win the Champions League this season. The current number one Alphonse Areola is highly-rated. However, he has arguably yet to convince that he is good enough to be the PSG number one for the long-term.

Navas arrival will provide Areola competition for the starting spot, which hopefully for PSG will help the 26-year-old to up his game. It does seem likely that Navas will come in as the team’s number one.

It seems doubtful that Navas would be moving to Paris to sit on the bench after being in a similar position at Madrid. He is more likely to play at PSG than at Real Madrid, but it’s doubtful he would have moved without reassurances of first-team.

PSG want an experienced goalkeeper with a history of winning the big trophies. They look to have found the ideal one in Navas.

PSG still outsiders to win the Champions League

There is no secret that PSG’s owner’s main objective for the team is to win the Champions League. However, despite getting to the later stages of the competition in most recent seasons, the triumph still eludes them.

The signing of Navas looks to be a shrewd one from Real Madrid. One individual signing is unlikely to majorly improve the Parisians chances of winning the Champions League.

PSG are currently outsiders of 10/1 to win Europe’s elite competition this season. The French club has a major task on their hands to get the better of the teams who have thrived in the competition in recent seasons, such as Liverpool and Barcelona.

The signing of Navas will at least mean the French team has a solid last line of defence next season. It looks like a good move for Navas and the Parisians.

Will Keylor Navas be a good signing for PSG?
