Vincent Kompany insisted that he is not looking too far ahead after Bayern Munich qualified for the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal.

Bayern defeated RB Leipzig 2-0 at the Allianz Arena after Harry Kane and Luis Diaz scored within three second-half minutes.

It was a fairly comfortable cup tie for the Bavarian giants, who produced 3.1 expected goals (xG) from 12 shots to Leipzig’s 0.55 from seven attempts.

Kane has now scored in each of his last four DFB-Pokal games, while registering eight direct goal contributions in his last six games in the competition (seven goals, one assist).

For the first time in six years, Bayern are in the semi-finals of the cup, ending their longest drought this millennium without a last-four appearance in the tournament.

Kompany’s side are also in the driving seat in the Bundesliga, while they are also one of the favourites, behind Arsenal, to win the Champions League.

The Belgian coach, however, refused to get ahead of himself as he now turns his attention to Bayern’s Bundesliga fixture against Werder Bremen on the weekend.

“In every competition, you have to have the feeling you can be there until the end and win the title,” said Kompany.

“Everyone can have this dream. But from my side, I’m rather pragmatic.

“The performance was good, which is why we won, and that increases the possibility of advancing further. That’s the most important thing for me.

“From [Thursday], it’s about Werder Bremen.”

Bayern defender Jonathan Tah, on the other hand, is determined to go to the final this season.

“I’m enjoying every single moment being out on the pitch with the guys and also watching them play football, it’s just fun,” said the centre-back.

“My job is to make sure we don’t concede any goals at the back, and I want them to have fun up front.

“Going to Berlin would be special. It’s been a long time since we were there, and of course, that’s our goal. We want to win the cup. We showed how hungry we are for it.”
