Kramaric close to Leicester switch; Podolski joins Internazionale

Croatia international striker Andrej Kramaric is on the verge of completing a January move to English Premier League strugglers Leicester City.

Croatia international striker Andrej Kramaric is on the verge of completing a January move to English Premier League strugglers Leicester City.

Kramaric, who was reportedly set to join Chelsea in a £7.5 million deal this week, will now move to the King Power Stadium after impressing at HNK Rijeka this season.

The highly-rated 23-year-old will compete with the likes of David Nugent, Leonardo Ulloa, and Jamie Vardy for place in the Foxes first-team.

Kramaric bagged 28 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Rijeka in 2014/15.

Podolski joins Internazionale

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has joined Italian Serie A side Internazionale Milano on loan until the end of the season.

The Germany international, 29, has completed his medical and all the necessary paper work and was even spotted training with the first-team on Monday.

A statement on the Nerazzurri’s official website read: “FC Internazionale is pleased to announce that Lukas Podolski has joined the club on loan from Arsenal FC until June 2015.

“We would like to thank the FIGC for helping to complete the transfer quickly and smoothly.”

Since moving to North London from Cologne in 2012, Podolski, who was a member of Germany’s World Cup winning squad in Brazil this summer, has scored 31 goals in 82 appearances for the Gunners.

“I can’t express in words my gratitude towards Arsenal fans for all they have done for me in my years in London!” said Podolski via Instagram.

“Please know my heart always holds a place for you. I’ve loved every minute playing for Arsenal and I hope I have left my mark on the club and fans alike. Hopefully we shall meet again!”

Wickham never fazed by speculation

Sunderland striker Connor Wickham has insisted he was never worried about his long-term future after inking a new deal with the Black Cats.

The England Under-21 international put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year contract extension with the club in December amid reports linking him with a summer exit from Wearside.

“The speculation never bothered me as much as what was made of it,” Wickham said. “People don’t see what goes on behind closed doors, and it was never in doubt.

“I took criticism for how long it took, but that was the process. At least it’s settled now and everyone knows what’s happening. I’ve signed the contract and that’s the end of that.

“Over a month, I sat with the gaffer a couple of times and he explained to me what he wanted me to do.

“We had a good chat for half-an-hour, 45 minutes, and we got a lot out in the open and we understood each other. Now I know what he wants from me, and that’s made it a lot easier.

“He said to me way before the negotiations even started what he wanted me to do for this season. I was happy to do it then, I’m happy to do it now.

“The contract was just one of those things that came up between then and now.”
