Krasic slips through Spurs grasp

Harry Redknapp has revealed Tottenham failed to sign Milos Krasic because the Juventus man would only consider joining on a permanent deal.

Spurs negotiated with Juventus during Tuesday’s final day of the January transfer window to bring the Serbian winger to White Hart Lane on loan.

But they missed out on his signature after Krasic demanded a fulltime switch, and Tottenham did not have the funds to buy his services outright.

The 27-year-old Serbia international, who joined Juve from CSKA Moscow for 15 euros million in 2010, was seen as back-up for Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon after Steven Pienaar allowed to return to Everton on loan.

But speaking after his side’s 3-1 over Wigan on Tuesday, Redknapp confirmed Spurs did not have the funds to complete the signing.

“I was going to take Krasic on loan,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“I was interested in buying him a year ago too but he was expensive – 18 million euros.”

“I wanted him on loan this time but he didn’t want to come and wanted a permanent deal but we didn’t have the money.”
