Lazio striker moves to Far East

Lazio striker Emiliano Alfaro has joined Al Wasl on a season-long loan, the club from the United Arab Emirates have announced on their official website.

By signing the Uruguayan forward, the club have completed their foreign quota, with Lucas Neill, Mariano Donda and Mahmoud Shikabala the other foreigners in the squad.

The 24-year-old was not Al Wasl’s first choice target for the striker position, but he was signed after the club missed out on Alfonso Alves and Emmanuel Clottey.

Emiliano Alfaro only joined Lazio last January, when he completed a €3.2 million deal from Liverpool de Montevideo, but he had a pretty disappointing start to his career in Italy.

The Uruguayan international made just eight Serie A appearances last term and failed to score a single goal in the process.

The Biancocelesti hope the player will kick-start his career during the loan spell in Dubai, although Al Wasl have the option to make the transfer permanent for a set fee.
