Leicester must break club record to sign Tielemans permanently

Leicester City will have to break their club record when it comes to paying transfer fees if they intend to sign Youri Tielemans on a permanent deal, according to The Telegraph.

The 2015/16 Premier League champions have been impressed by the Belgian international in his four league appearances so far after they temporarily obtained his services from AS Monaco in a straigh swap for midfielder Adrien Silva, and they are seriously entertaining the thought to make Tielemans a Leicester player permanently.

However, Monaco aren’t prepared to make it easy for them. Their demand stands at £40 million, well above the £28 million club record the Foxes set when they signed striker Islam Slimani on deadline day in the summer of 2016.

Leicester recently appointed Brendan Rodgers as their manager, and the former Liverpool and Celtic boss is in the process of evaluating his squad and making plans for next season. The prospect of keeping Tielemans is certainly among many things he must ponder in that aspect.
