Celtic are set to sign Trabzonspor striker Pawel Brozek on loan for the rest of the season.
Brozek, a Poland international, joined the Turkish side just 12 months ago, but has been less prolific since the move than at previous club Wisla Krakow.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon is hoping the striker can alleviate some of the pressure on front men Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper.
“He’s a goalscorer and he’ll hopefully give the squad a bit of a jag,” Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland.
“We’re relying heavily on Stokesy (Anthony Stokes) and Gary (Hooper) and Pawel will come in. We’re hoping he’ll come in really hungry.”
“He’s had a good record in Poland. Things haven’t gone his way in Turkey but he’s got the Euros (Euro 2012) coming up so he’ll be very motivated to book a place for the Polish squad.”
Rangers had also monitored Brozek’s situation, but manager Ally McCoist had no contact with the player.
McCoist, meanwhile, could be facing a battle to keep striker Nikica Jelavic beyond January 31, with the Croatian understood to be a target for Everton.
