Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp will hold a meeting with Robert Lewandowski in an attempt to clear the air with his unhappy striker.

The Poland international has scored 74 goals in three years at Dortmund but has repeatedly criticised the club’s hierarchy for not allowing him to join Bayern Munich.

With the new season approaching, Klopp has stepped in to try and diffuse the situation ahead before their opening Bundesliga match with Augsburg on August 10.

“Whatever is left to be discussed will be discussed internally,” the 46-year-old said.

“The idea is to close this subject. Everything is in order. Nothing has changed since yesterday or the day before yesterday.

“I am convinced we will clear up everything in the coming days.”

And Klopp is convinced that the 24-year-old striker will not let any problems affect his performances on the pitch.

He added: “For me what he does (on the pitch) is a thousand times more important than what he says because what he does needs no interpretation.”
