Porto reclaimed top spot in the Liga Sagres thanks to a 2-0 win over Maritimo on Saturday.

Rivals Benfica had temporarily replaced Porto at the top of the league after their 5-1 win over Rio Ave on Friday, but the reigning champions responded with a hard-fought home win a day later to move back to the summit on goal difference.

It took Porto more than 80 minutes to break the deadlock at the Estadio do Dragao, midfielder Cristian Rodriguez eventually making the breakthrough with nine minutes remaining.

An own goal from Briguel two minutes later put the result beyond doubt, Porto maintaining their incredible unbeaten streak of 52 matches in the league.

Elsewhere, an own goal from Mahamadou N’Diaye cost Vitoria Guimaraes all three points against Gil Vicente as the side’s played out a 1-1 draw.

Nuno Assis had given Guimaraes the lead after 18 minutes at the Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques, but N’Diaye’s own goal just before half time meant the spoils were shared.
