Sporting Lisbon came from behind to draw 1-1 at Academica in Liga Sagres on Sunday, while Feirense moved out of the relegation zone.
Third-placed Sporting Lisbon needed an 80th-minute goal from Brazilian Elias to take a point from the Estadio Cidade de Coimbra.
Forward Eder had given the hosts the lead in the 28th minute, while Elias was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card late on.
Sporting Lisbon are six points adrift of league leaders Porto and second-placed Benfica, while Academica are sixth.
Elsewhere, Bedi Buval’s brace led Feirense out of the drop zone after a 2-1 victory over Uniao de Leiria.
The Frenchman struck twice before Brazilian striker Bruno Moraes pulled one back in the 70th minute as Feirense moved into 11th.
Pacos de Ferreira remain bottom after suffering a 3-0 loss at home to Beira-Mar.
Cristiano, Javier Balboa and Dudu were on the scoresheet, leaving Pacos de Ferreira winless in their last five league outings.
Claudemir’s penalty cancelled out Rafael Lopes’ opener as Nacional played out a 1-1 draw at home to Vitoria Setubal, who finished the clash at Estadio da Madeira with nine men.
Igor and Hugo Leal were both sent off, the latter in additional time, as Nacional climbed out of the bottom two.
