Paris Saint-Germain returned to the top of Ligue 1 on Sunday after cruising to comfortable 4-1 home victory over struggling Ajaccio.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side made the most of Saturday’s slip-up by Montpellier, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Dijon, and moved one point clear on top of the table.

Argentine ace Javier Pastore opened the scoring at the Parc des Princes after 27 minutes, as he linked up superbly with Thiago Motta before blasting a left-footed shot past Guillermo Ochoa in the Ajaccio goal.

Two minutes later it was 2-0 when Jeremy Menez curled a spectacular effort in from the edge of the area, but Ajaccio pulled a goal back three minutes before half-time through Yohann Poulard.

Guillaume Hoarau scored PSG’s third in the 86th minute and Brazilian striker Nene scored from point-blank range in stoppage time to wrap up a comfortable win for the home side.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Rennes climbed to fourth place after a 2-0 win at Lorient.

Jonathan Pitroipa opened the scoring four minutes before half-time and Youssouf Hadji doubled the advantage in the 79th minute to see Rennes climb above Saint-Etienne and Toulouse into fourth on goal difference.

And Brest and Caen played out a 0-0 draw at the Stade Michel d’Ornano, with Brest defender Jonathan Zebina sent off in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
