Brazilian winger Nene has scored two goals as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Sochaux 6-1 and kept the pressure on Ligue 1-leaders Montpellier.

The huge victory puts PSG on 67 points, just behind Montpellier on 69 points, in the race for the French league title.

In Paris, Javier Pastore put PSG ahead in the sixth minute but France’s second-bottom club hit back soon after through Modibo Maiga.

The Malian forward scored for the fifth-consecutive match with a brave header in the 12th minute but PSG were in front again when Nene’s free-kick was dispatched into the net by Thiago Motta’s diving header.

Jeremy Menez made it 3-1 for the home side a minute before half-time.

Any hope of a comeback for Sochaux was ruined by Nene in the first 15 minutes after the break.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Brazilian volleyed home Christophe Jallet’s right-wing cross and then in the 60th minute Jallet again set up Nene and the winger dribbled around Sochaux’s goalkeeper Teddy Richert to make it 5-1.

PSG completed the thrashing with Sylvain Armand’s 90th-minute goal.

Lyon came from 2-0 down to defeat Lorient 3-2 thanks to a late winner from Bafetimbi Gomis.

The visitors stunned Lyon with first-half goals from Kevin Monnet-Paquet and Mathias Autret.

But seven minutes from the break, Cris got the home side’s comeback started with a volley from a corner.

Lyon had to wait until the 77th minute to draw level when Lisandro Lopez cut in from the left-hand side to fire the ball past Florent Chaigneau in Lorient’s goal.

In the 84th minute, Gomis secured victory with a goal from a scramble in the penalty area.

The win means Lyon move up to fourth above Rennes.

In the other Ligue 1 match on Sunday, Ajaccio and Nancy played out a 0-0 draw.
