Ligue 1 wrap: PSG snatch draw, Montpellier move top

Paris Saint-Germain struck twice in the final 20 minutes to claim a thrilling 4-4 draw at Lyon in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

PSG claimed an early lead through Guillaume Hoarau’s strike on 21 minutes but they were quickly on the back foot.

Bafetimbi Gomis, Lisandro Lopez and Michel Bastos all scored within a six-minute period as Lyon charged in front.

Brazilian Nene bagged a penalty on the stroke of half-time to keep Carlo Ancelotti’s side alive, although Jeremy Briand’s goal on 58 minutes for Lyon looked to have dashed PSG’s hopes.

Substitute Ceara netted on 73 minutes though, just moments after being introduced off the bench.

And Hoarau ensured the visitors would leave Stade de Gerland with a point with his second goal four minutes into stoppage time.

Despite the superb effort to claim a point, PSG’s failure to win means Montpellier moved to the top of the league with a 1-0 home success against Bordeaux.

Rene Girard’s side were made to work for the victory with Nigerian forward John Utaka bagging the only goal of the game after 80 minutes.

The result extended Montpellier’s unbeaten run to nine matches in all competitions.

Saint-Etienne still sit fourth but will be disappointed after they were held to a goalless draw at struggling Auxerre while Kevin Berigaud bagged a double in Evian TG’s 2-0 win over Nancy.

Anthony Mounier’s 50th minute strike was enough to give Nice a 1-0 win over Caen, goals in the last 15 minutes from Mamadou Samassa and Renaud Cohade helped Valenciennes to a 2-0 success against Lorient, and Ajaccio avoided defeat for the fifth time in a row at home as they beat Dijon 2-1.
